Have you ever wondered what road led the citizens of the US to elect their first African-American president?  I like to think that -- since old white people have co-opted a lot of jazz -- the black community adopting white customs plays a microscopic part.

I discovered a new (to me) comics blog this week -- 4thletter! -- but more to the point, I discovered this amazing song at a new (to me) comics blog. How this Animaniacs classic has passed me by all these years I'll never know. But thank God for it now!

MC Escher is also my favorite MC.

I saw the movie Show Buisness last Friday night, and for a minute, I was interested in Broadway musicals again. Then I woke up Saturday and it was back to TV. It was fun while it lasted!

I think you have too many shoes.

So I saw the new Spider-Man movie on Saturday and... wow. Whatever.

But thanks to a member of our merry band, Stephen (visible in the background of the Giant Beet picture) who told me about this song and video, the main thing I took away from the day was a constant refrain echoing through the recesses of my admittedly mostly empty brain pan: "Shoes.  Shoes.  Shoes.  Let's get some shoes."

Looks like someone needs to get their nap on.
